A planter with a bee house built into its base: eleven and a half centimetres of cast concrete cube, planted on top and nested in underneath. Most British bee species are solitary rather than hive-dwelling, and this gives them somewhere to lay.
Cast from concrete containing up to 75% waste material from the Cornish china clay industry, 2.4 kilograms, supplied empty. Best in a warm, south-facing spot a metre or so off the ground. Designed and made in the UK, and safe to keep where children and pets go — solitary bees have no hive to defend.
